Q: Does any one know where to find 1966 Dodge charger parts?
My dad and I are rebuilding his Dodge charger and there are some very hard to find parts. If anyone can help I'd be greatful. I've checked a slew of sites with no avail. We need some chrome and rear taillight left side. Also the motor for the left side hide away head lights. Thanks for any support you can give me.

ebay is usually the cheapest for second hand parts and is great if you are buying something like a grille where you see the pics...but watch out for people selling parts that were just pulled off a car and might not work...wiper motor for example!
Good Luck
Q: What is the part number for a 1966 Dodge Charger w/383, 4BL, 4SP?
I have tried 4 starters and they all bind to the flywheel.
A: Since the boltup on all Dodge starters are the same, it is possible the starter drive may not be right. If you have the old one, check the teeth on the drive.
Another possibility is the sheet metal plate that goes between the starter and bell housing is bent, or missing.

Q: 1966 Dodge Charger Help?
I recently got the car from my father. A 1966 Dodge Charger, 383 Magnum, Carter Thermoquad, with a 3 speed automatic transmission (727 Hydroglide, I believe)...
What I am looking for is information on how I might look up the location/owner of the original engine (318). I don't know if it is even possible, or if it even still exists. But if it out there, and still workable... I want it. The motor/tranny is the only thing NOT original, and I want that corrected :D
Any information will help and be much appreciated.
The original motor was pulled and traded by my father, who now cannot remember to who... and who was also the original owner... so no one to trace down that way...
As far as "just putting a 318 in it..." I am shooting for the matching numbers engine. Save that, I'll stick to the 383 Magnum.
sorry, my Father was the original owner..
A: You'd have to track all the previous owners to find out who pulled the motor, and then who they sold it to.
I think it's like finding "A needle in a haystack" scenario for you.
Q: 1966 dodge charger vacuum advance?
If you have a pinhole in the vac advance diaphragm, would it cause the engine to rev and idle down?
A: ye it will cause it to rev and and idle down by its self, but it will idle down lower than it should be at,it will cause a bad hesitation point in it though when you accelerate it and it will throw the timing off bad on it,when it should be advancing it will throw it out of time, they,ll also backfire and loose power sometimes if the diaphragm has a hole in it,the worst thing you,ll notice is a loss in power on it and the hesitation is a dead give away on it being bad,i got an older model 440 that the diaphragm is busted on and it will hesitate real bad when you go to take off in it,it should have a slight hesitation point in it if the diaphragm is bad on it,good luck.

Q: 1966- 1974 dodge charger????
1966-1974 did dodge charger ever have a 4 door?
A: NO! Dodge made the older model Chargers only in a two door.
When the Charger was reintroduce in 2004/5 it was a 4 door the same as the Chrysler 300's.
Sometime in the near future, Chrysler/Dodge is introducing or reintroducing the Dodge Challanger. It will be a retro to the 1970 body style Dodge Challanger/Plymouth Cuda. It will supposedly be available in more than one engine choice, but the only one I'd have would be the SRT8 version with the 6.1L 425hp HEMI V8.
Q: auto parts and accessory1966 and 1967 dodge charger?
1966 dodge charger steel wheel 14 by 5 and one half
A: So what's the question? If you're looking for parts try National Parts Depot http://www.nationalpartsdepot.com/. They stock all kinds of parts for old cars. The Paddock does also but their prices are a heck of a lot higher than anyone elses around.
Q: Dodge Charger or Challenger?
I was going to buy a project car, and have found both a 1966 Charger and a 1970 Challenger for sale. The Charger is all there and would run except for an electrical short; the Challenger is just a shell. Both are around $2000 and need to be towed. Right now, it seems to make more sense to buy the Charger, but I've heard that fully restored Challengers can go for quite a bit. Any advice?
A: As the owner of several Challengers over the years and still owner of one and caretaker of several more, I'd pick the '66 Charger. The Challenger is worth more restored to original specs but to get it there will cost $$$$. The Charger is complete and has an electrical short, you have a lot to work with and there weren't that many built. You don't say anything about engine or trans, but the bigger the engine the higher the value.
Q: How hard is it to find a 426 Hemi engine and how much would it be worth if it was a restored engine.?
I have lived in my neighborhood for about 10years and there is a dodge charger,1966, thats been sitting there for longer than 10 years. If it has a 426 hemi in it and if the whole car was restored to like new condition, would it be worth restoring for a profit or is it no use trying. The way it looks right now the whole engine is probably crap, and needs restored, the body has moderate rust, and the interior is all the orginal stuff that needs to be changed.
How much would a estimate be for all the stuff and would the car sell after it was restored. I am only 16, and dont know a crap load about cars thats the only reason i am asking.
Thanks.
A: the car is worth some big bucks restored but it will cost big bucks to restore it, 66 and 67 chargers don't bring as much money as 68 to 72 hemi chargers as of yet.
Q: What is your favorite muscle car and exactly why?
breaking my own rule, my 6 personal favorites are the 1966 Shelby Mustang GT 350, 1968 Pontiac GTO Judge, 1968 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, the 1967 Pontiac Firebird, and the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T and my dads old Cutlass 442 by the way can someone tell me things bout the 442???
A: Buick 442. Big strong engine. But has difficulties in age. Buick is infamous for their aluminum rods which tend to bend and break very often.
If you want a real muscle car, I suggest you get yourself a 1972 Chevelle SS 454, or the older 427. the 454 is significantly better though. The 1970 454 was a wider and longer Chevelle, making it heavier. The 71, and 72 were the same style, yet slightly lighter and smaller. 69 and lower were also very good Chevelles.
The word Chevelle comes from the french word "Caval" which meant an iron-armored horse. Or be like me. do a quarter mile in under 10 seconds by only spending $3k on a Suzuki GSX-r750 bike.
Q: first car-what is the best pic?
for my first car i have my mind set on a muscle car something from 1966 to 1970 either a chevrolet chevelle, pontiac firebird, Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Charger, chevrolet malibu, ford mustang, mustang shelby anything like that but i was wondering which has teh best mileage ( i know they all have bad mileage) and what generly has the best engine and speed thanks
A: If your going with a muscle car, go with your heart...(Leave the gas mileage worries to those Honda drivers.) ;)
Check out some car shows and see what you like. (Personally a 69 Camaro Z-28 makes my heart stop...but everyone has their favorites.)
The engines vary on these cars, it depends on what has been put under the hood. Try to learn as much as you can so you know what your getting into...
Good luck, but I am sure you will be happy with any of those choices :)
