Q: Whats wrong with my charging system in my 1960 Ford Falcon?
I have a new battery, alternator, and voltage regulator. I hooked everything up the way it was and its not working. I had it tested yesterday and its still runnin off the battery. Should I clean my grounds? or something??? Im puzzled. Im confused about how the alternator is setup. Theres a field, ground, and positive(battery) cable. But, theres an empty Sta. wire spot. Is that the problem? I need and would appreciate some help with this.

A: Take it to a reputable mechanic...

Q: Will a Ford 9 inch rearend bolt right up to my 1960 Ford Falcon, The rear is out of a 57 Chevy Bel Air Wagon.?
If not, what do I do to make it fit?

A: Not likely. You will have to take the rear end to a driveline shop and have the rear end sized (width, spring attatchments, pinion angle) for your vehicle, if you expect to have it last any length of time. It was probably altered to fit the Chevy, so you need to have it returned to stock specs.

Q: will a front windshield from a 1960,1961,1962,1963 ford falcon fit in a 1960 falcon ranchero.?

A: I'm not sure on this, but I think it may. That's been a long time ago. Ask a glass company or a salvage yard, they have charts on what parts fit what years.

Q: Does anyone else own a Ford Falcon from the 1960's?
It's a pretty rare car. I've got one and wondered if anyone else has one or if anyone else has even heard of it.

A: No, I don't own one, but I wish I had kept mine. I used to own and drive a used one (back around 1969, which tells you about how old I am, OOPS!) and it was wonderful! White with red leather interior, bucket seats with center shift. I loved it. 1962 I think it was and it was still totally perfect. Lucky, lucky you! This is what it looked like:

Q: 1960's cars have been stored. They have mold growing on the seats. How to kill mold &stop reoccurance?
Auto's have been stored in a non-climate controlled building. Car windows have been rolled up. Mold has grown on seats, seat belts, inside doors. Unsure of material type of seats. They are not cloth, but are some type of leather-looking material (possibly some type of plastic.) These cars are early 1960's Ford Falcons, Fairlanes and Galaxies. Storage building is 6,000 sq. ft. with concrete floor and well insulated metal siding. I would like to know what type of mold this is and should car windows be rolled up or down. The building's lights are turned on only when working on cars which amounts to approx. 10 hours per month. I need ideas of how to keep the mold from growing back once the mold has been killed.

A: try to get some sun to hit the cars, by doing these you will disappear the humidity inside the car, and you will make the mold to dry ant then you can remove it easily and if you do it periodically it would never grow back again.

Q: Easy route from Reno to Seattle. NO FREEWAYS!?
We are looking for a nice, slow paced and easy going route from Reno to Seattle. We are going to take our 1960 Ford Falcon, which is almost fully restored. It has a small 6 cylinder under the hood and a 2 speed transmission. So, it doesn't take kindly to freeway driving, (over 55MPH) or long steep grades. We are willing to take two full days to get there. Yes, we have a new vehicle. We just want to take the Falcon for an "adventure"! Any suggestions? Thanks!

A: OK, looked up routing. The shortest route will take you along secondary highways for about 2/3 of the trip. The final 1/3, from Eugene, OR to Seattle is on I-5. Back highways run sort of parallel from there as well, just consult local maps. Just go to http://www.mapquest.com. I'd also like to offer a piece of advice on the old Falcon, having owned one a number of years ago. The 2-speed Ford-O-Matic trans used in that model does NOT have an oil cooler. There are connections for one on the side of the trans with a U-shaped pipe connecting them together. The journey you're planning will involve some significant driving through mountain areas. The secondary highways are likely to be considerably steeper than the interstates. The lack of a trans cooler will cook that trans for sure, especially on that trip. There's plenty of room in front of the radiator on that car to install a transmission oil cooler. The trans will run 40 - 50 degrees cooler and you'll be much more likely to complete the trip successfully.

Q: What cars in your life do you wish you never got rid of?
I'm 50 so if I start with my first car I have quite a list... 1957 Chevy Belair... 1970 sold 500.00 1960 T-Bird convertable... 1971 500.00 1962 Chev Belair (bubbletop) 1972 sold ? 62, 65 Volkswagons 64 Chev Malibu convertable...blew motor sold cheap 1968 Road Runner ... traded for 65 Impala 62 Ford Falcon stationwagon... wrecked 63 Chev Nova... blew rearend...sold cheap 69 Dodge Charger R/T 440 sold 800.00 70 Dodge Dart Swinger 340... wrecked 71 Chev Nova SS sold 1000.00 71 Monte Carlo 69 Buick Riviera (boattail) There are too many more. I would just like one of them back. It is too sad to think of what they may be worth now. I have to stop and go have a good cry.

A: Mitsubishi shogun 2.5Lt Turbo direct injection, modified the turbo to twin blades, modified the fuel pump's governor, modified the intercooler the big one, done lots of stuff with the rack and pinion, modified the trans. the close ratio. that's the only car that i regretted of selling. still think of it though. Merry Christmas.
