Q: For a 1969 Pontiac Firebird is there supposed to be a cap and/or gaskets under neath the manifold?
My engine is not working right. What is the distributor calibration for a '69 Firebird witha 400 auto.
A: you need to explain yourself more as I really don't know what manifold you are talking about, the intake manifold or exhaust manifold?, they both take gaskets under them and whatever your talking about a cap I have no idea what that is or what you are talking about there either. The distriburator calibration you are talking about I take you mean what should the timing be set at?, 8 to 10 degrees before top dead center.

I am a guy and 16 found a running 69' firebird good shape and i can afford it. Its a convertible would that'd be cool or not for a guy? Cars Black with white top and white Interior.
A: ezdogg is very opinionated. convertables are not gay, i prefer coupes as well for every day drivers, but a classic drop top? forget about it. I also say go for it man! Just please please please, if you buy it, remember, that is a becoming a very rare care, and the better you treat it, the better it will take care of you. If you keep it in good shape, drive it sparingly and dont hit anything!!! it is only going to increase in value while giving you pleasure and pride of being the care taker of such a fine car. 69 firebirds arent just another used car, like a 98 honda or something, they need to be treated with respect, otherwise it'll end up destroyed and worthless like 90 percent of them already have.

I have 2 old cars and I need to sell one and keep the other. I have a red 1969 Ford Mustang and a yellow 1977 Pontiac Firebird. Which car will have a higher value and which car is better? In other words, which one should I keep.
A: i promise promise promise you. The 69 stang is and will always be worth more than the trans am. First, the 69 stang is a good year, everyone loves 69 for some reason. Second, wtf is a 77 trans am. This is like classic pony vs cheap corny trans am. I mean it's cool to have that huge bird on your hood i must agree, but soon enough people will be like dude, get over it. The mustang however is a head turner. If you restore that thing and get a new paintjob everyone will love your car and strangers will turn their heads and compliment you.

I've hears rumors and I wanted to clear this up. Is it true that when the Firebirds return to the market in a few years, it's going to resemble the 1977 and 1978 Firebirds? Several people have said this...Is it true?
I know that when the Camaro returns in 2009, it's going to resemble the 1969 Camaro.
A: Well me tell you (and the other Poncho fans) that the 1977/78 had the biggest sales in the F body style because of Smokey and the Bandit movie.
Now with that out of the way, other U.S. Auto-makers have released "Retro Autos of yesteryear" do to good sales of that ara.

It's a 1969 Pontiac Firebird. The guy said its a project in the fact that it needs new floors and front end and engine, and interior could use some work.

97 pontiac firebird 158,000 miles. driver window needs regulator and motor , the front bumper is cracked, the car has nice paint job. According to the dealer there are no mechanic problems. they had to replace the intake gasket and that is it. they say there are no more mechanic problems. the total amount with taxes/everthing is 1969.00 is this what it should be worth or does it sound like they aren't telling me everything? they say it drives fine

Im talking to a dealer about a 97 pontiac firebird. it has 158,000 miles. It has a good paint job. The dealer said only thang wrong with it is that the driver windown needs new motor/regulator. and that the front right bumper is cracked. She also said that it has no mechanic problems. That the only thing was a intake gasket and they replaced that. the total for car is 1969.00 is this a good deal?
A: You do not buy a 10 year old can for $2000 and expect a perfect car.
You buy a 10 year old car for $2000 if you know how to work on cars and don't mind a day or two with it not running.
Paint jobs mean nothing to a dealer. I had a business account with a paint shop for a while and they would paint anything I brought them for $250. Car looked new on the outside...doesn't mean it is a good car.
This car is not going to come with a warentee for a reason. It doesn't mean they are ripping you off...you just need to understand ANYTHING can break on a 10 year old car, if you are ok with that then buy it.
