Q: where can i find a 1970 pontiac gto in houston texas?please help!!!?
a 1970 pontiac gto is my dream car
A: I'd say there were probably 50 in houston, of those 50, about 25 - 30 are probably in a junkyard with so much cancer no one will touch them. 12 to 15 could be restored for 20 grand or more investment, and the other 5 the owners prob wont part with. Check ebay and hemmings motor news .com. Goats are about as rare as Mopars, so good luck. AT least you have taste though! I wouldn't own a gaystang, or a crapmaro if you paid me. Maybe a GSX or 442.

Q: What is the Gas Mileage of a stock 1970 Pontiac GTO?
i need to no plz
A: hard to say. what gear ratio? what trans? what engine? GTO's came in the ram air 3, ram air 4, and they even sold 2 barrel ones. for ball park figure i would say around 12-16 mpg. i had a 67 lemans with a 68 350, 3.08 rear, and a 2 spd. it got about 14-16 on the highway. i think it could have gotten around 18-20 if i had an overdrive trans and a carb with vaccuum secondaries. i read an article in rod and kustom a few years ago. this guy had an early 60's catalina with a 389 and 3x2's. he got around 14 mpg. he put in a 200-4r and got around 20-25 mpg!! not bad at alll being how much that thing weighs and it has 3 carbs. hell my ford ranger doesnt get that. check out all the car mags. ie hot rod, car craft, rod and custom, and high performance pontiac. they all have articles on overdrives be it auto or manual

Q: i swap a chevy 383 motor on to a 1970 pontiac gto.?
i want to know where can i get frame mounts because the chevy mounts wont bolt up to the pontiac frame mounts.?
if anyone knows where can i purchase them it be great .
or from what chevy muscle car would work.
thanks.
A: Good news...the Chevelle and the LeMans are the same car under the skin, so you'll use '70 Chevelle mounts. However, I'm pretty certain the bellhousing pattern for Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac were different than the Chevy pattern...the transmission isn't going to bolt up.

Q: what is the difference between a mechanical and vacuum advance distributors?
i dont know what distributor would work better for my chevy 383 stroker motor.
would a vacuum advance be easier or a mechanical my chevy 383 is in a 1970 pontiac gto .
A: Mechanical advance distributors use weights to advance the timing. The weights are connected to springs that regulate how quickly the timing advances. Different size weights cause the advance curve to vary. A vacuum advance causes the timing to advance when there is a load on the engine. Mechanical advance distributors only sense engine RPM, and as a result they are not as responsive as they would be if there was a vacuum advance unit attached. Vacuum advance units sense the increased engine load (which causes a drop in vacuum) the moment you open the throttle. There is not as much lag like there is with just a mechanical advance system, which has to sense increased engine RPM in order to advance the timing. Lots of race motors use just mechanical advance, because it's simpler and much more consistent, but for drivability, you probably need a vacuum advance as well because you will be driving under much more varied conditions than just flat-out racing. Get yourself a good Accel, Mallory, or MSD distributor. Summit Racing is a good source. It is simply not true that all distributors are mechanical advance, or even that they have any kind of advance feature built in to them. My Ford Ranger four cylinder had two distributors that were controlled by a computer, and were not mechanically connected to the engine. The timing was controlled only by the computer, which read inputs from a number of engine sensors and told the distributors when to fire the spark plugs .
It is a mistake to take answers you read here as gospel truth, especially from people who claim to have years of experience or who just want the points. You need to read tons of literature from reliable sources.
Q: What two Ram Air Pontiacs Engines mated together made the first 400 Super Duty Motor Prototype?
1970 Pontiac GTO JUDGE 400 "TIN INDIAN", factory race car came with new Pontiac 400 cid motor, they modified it with parts from another earlier Pontiac motor, to produce the first prototype 400 Super Duty engine that would roll out 1973 - 1974. This car after modified was the National Champion in 1970! What two Ram Air engines did they use?
A: Ram Air V bottom end with Ram Air IV heads
Q: Which is better, Chevy Chevelles, Ford Mustang, or a Pontiac GTO?
I like the the 1970 Chevelle SS 454
A: GTO. Better faster car and worth more
Q: Kick Panel Speaker enclosure Question?
I am adding a pair of Infinity Kappa 62.7i 6.5 inch speakers to a 1970 Pontiac GTO. they will be running with infinity 6x9's off a pioneer 6300f amp. Older cars did not typically come with 4 speakers so i am buying an aftermarket kick panel with an opening cut for the 6.5. I've read the kappa's produce good bass with enough power but i'm worried there wont be enough air space inside the kick panel to take advantage of the speakers. any suggestions?
A: You need to get speakers with that matches the volume of the panel, it should be within the enclosure specs and in the speakers specs.

1970 Buick GSX 455 Ruled the Buicks, (Stage 1 never impressed me! Didn't they have other Stages?) I don't feel like searching for my 1967 Pontiac Owners Manual, I will take your word for now, 427 @ 390 H.P.! The Olds 442 was a good concept, 4 spd manual, 4 barrel, dual exhaust, but lost me when they contradicted themselves and put in automatics! I loved the cars without power steering, they said you couldn't turn them, I just turned the wheel a bit, reved up the engine let the clutch out, gave it some gas, peeled those tires and around she went, it was easy, I never had problems with non power cars, and what's with all these automatics, no body knows how to drive anymore?
A: They were all great in their day now they are usually trailer queens...talk to people who remember these fine classics like in high school or buddies and let them tell ya...I remember riding around in a 1970 GTO Judge and a 1970 454 LS6 Chevelle and a 1971 Boss 351 Mustang or even a 1970 Plymouth Super Bird too... My Dad had a 1966 427 Vette 425 horse red with side pipes so that is my favorite...But there were so many nice examples that any muscle car from that era is a godsend...gas was about .25 cents and payments were like 100.00 bux a month and insurance was like 200,,00 dollars a year full coverage ..It was gone before we had a chance to appreciate them, we thought it was gonna last forever man...
